The launch for our opus of 2010–11 has taken place at author Richard Surman’s stately home overlooking Wimbledon Common, including a presentation about church architecture and the project.
Betjeman’s Best British Churches is a revision of the classic John Betjeman’s Guide to Parish Churches, which was first published in the 1950s.
Betjeman was a year-long project for which Thameside Media researched 2,500 churches and pinpointed their GPS coordinates for digital maps. Working alongside the venerable writer/ photographer Richard Surman, we undertook half the location photography, created all the printed maps, and designed and edited the work.
We enjoyed tootling round the country visiting tucked away rural churches.
We also wireframed the iPhone app.
See samples of Mike’s photography on the Betjeman book.
Is there any chance of an updated version of the app that can run on new iPhones?
Fantastic app so I hope something can be done.
Best wishes
Sorry, we don’t control the app updates. Agree it’s a shame it no longer works on the latest iOS. The printed book will last centuries, though, we hope!
“We also wireframed the iPhone app” — what does this mean, please? When I am visiting England I very much miss the Betjeman iPhone app, not being able to use it on the updated iOS. With thanks.
We did some initial coding and planning for the app, but weren’t the app publishers, sorry.
